You miss 100% of the shots that you do not take

I firmly believe in that. I grew up playing soccer and that was always pounded into our brains. It goes the same for life, careers; actually, anything.

If owner Phil Allor would not have taken a shot (chance) on this company, all 35 employees would not be here today. SelfLube is now the leading US  manufacturer of mold & die components. That, I would say, is a pretty good "shot" to take.

If some of us would not have taken a chance with this company, we would not be here today, and the same goes for you reading this.

Never be afraid to take a shot at something, follow your heart, dream big. You never know where you will end up.

The Rains Came Down, And The Floods Came Up.....Literally

Last week in Michigan, we had record breaking amounts of rain. The Grand River, that runs through the heart of Grand Rapids, crested at a whopping 22.94ft. This is one for the books folks, because this is the highest the river has ever been. Several families were displaced from their homes, and approximately 600 are still waiting to receive word as to when they can return. Today, many businesses are still working hard to remove water from their basements. The Plaza Towers had a mere 1 Million gallons of water to remove, and are doing so, at the rate of 9,000 gallons per minute. There are several roads, bridges and business that remain closed and Grand Rapids is still in a State of Emergency. However, here at SelfLube we have been fortunate enough to keep our electricity...and the waters out of the building. As much as the storm hindered our commute to work, we were able to keep our "On Time Delivery" status with our customers. We have all worked very hard as a team to keep things running as smooth as possible. Below, are some pictures of our beloved Grand Rapids to give you a glimpse of our recent experience. I found them intriguing, hopefully you do as well.

SelfLube gets rave reviews about Wear Strips cookies!

Hey all!

SelfLube was at it again! We sent out another round of our Wear Strip cookies, and got rave reviews once again! One of our customers emailed us and said;

"For Heather Harp: Those Wear Strips were crumby"

"Heather,

Those wear strips didn't last one cycle before crumbling! One of the machine operators tried eating the wear strip while the press was running and hit his head several times. One of the mold mechanics was wondering if you offered angle pins made from chocolate covered pretzel rods. I'm not sure what their obsession is with food, but they suggested that I keep you in mind for mold components.

Thank you for your indulgences.

Peter"

Well Peter, we are glad you folks liked them, and that we could sweeten your day up! Do keep us in mind for those mold components, we'd love to work with you, and we will keep you in mind for our next round of cookies!

Have a great day guys!

Get Social On LinkedIn

Over several years it has been a debate on whether social media should be in a company’s business strategy. Many wonder if it is worth the time? Will it pay off in the end? How will it help business? Social media is not widely used in the mold and die industry, but SelfLube thinks otherwise.
